   Psalm 57:7-11.  "My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!  Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. For Your goodness is great to the heavens and Your truth to the clouds. Be exalted above the heavens, God; May Your glory be above all the earth.”

 

   In the midst of emotional challenge, David encouraged his own heart to focus upward and not on his challenges.  He did so by securing his emotions and thoughts on the God he served, and established that through the transcendence of music.  Music was not given to God’s people so they could take pleasure in it, but so that God would take pleasure in our focus on His goodness, truth and glory

   Though relatively new to Minnesota, my wife, Ruth, and I have long been advocates of a music that transcends the everyday and focuses on worship of the Eternal One.  It is a true delight and honor to serve on the Board of Directors.
