A compelling cause. A worthy mission.
An immensely exciting future.

I distinctly remember in the summer of 2013 when I contacted Al Hawkins about auditioning for the chorale.  I knew literally nothing about the organization, but after four years away from the lifetime of music lessons, practices, and performances that populated my educational endeavors, I realized I still desired an opportunity to collaborate with others around beautiful music. Fast forward to my first practice with the chorale that Fall. I had uncovered a gold mine. Here there were not only really talented people with whom I could collaborate, but they were believers.  And we were singing for the purpose of promoting worship of our Savior.

I soon realized that this wasn’t just any fine arts organization, it was an organization with a church benefitting, God-glorifying purpose. And it was an organization that I wanted to align myself with for years to come.

I entered the organization on the cusp of our collaborations with incredibly talented composers like Josh Bauder, Dan Forrest, Josh Hummel, and Lloyd Larson. Have you listened to the compositions of these men?  Truth, beauty, and goodness, all of these things, emanate from their compositions.  Deo Cantamus has had the distinct privilege of bringing new compositions to the ears of our listeners.  I feel immensely privileged to have been a part of these endeavors.

So why do I give? Why do I work to advance this mission?  At present this organization is volunteer led and run.  Not one dollar of compensation goes out to those who make this organization work.  We exist because of the grace of God and His gracious kindness to us through volunteers and donors.  I want to see the mission of Deo Cantamus advanced for the glory of God. The organization needs ongoing funding to be able to continue to commission new works of art that are written expressly for the glory of our God. We want the body of Christ in the upper Midwest, across the US, and throughout the world to benefit from new compositions by God-fearing, theologically rich composers, who desire the Glory of God above their own recognition. With your help, with your gift, we can continue to bring this music to the ears and hearts of God’s children.
